Hello! Two things are out today that I want to tell you about... 1... My new app bundle!! You know how sometimes you’re just totally tapped OUT of ideas… and you wish you could just tap IN to something that would give you an instant spark of inspiration? That’s what gave me the idea for my very first app — the Little Moments Generator in Little Moments for Big Laughs. I wanted an eeeeasy way to access ideas from “Creative Mia” on the days when I’m “Burnt-Out Mia” (those days are APLENTY, I tell ya) So I made one! *This is your reminder that if you have Little Moments for Big Laughs, you have access to that app and I just added in a whole new fresh batch of silly moment ideas for you so hop to it!* Then, after I posted a video that went viral of me giving my kids weird noise prompts to channel their loud energy, so many people commented stuff like, “Wait, you should totally compile these! I don’t have the brainpower to think of creative things like this on my own.” And that’s when my creativity ball really started rollin’… First came the noise prompts app “Who Can Sound Like…” … then “You Are…” for helping kids burn off excess physical energy… then “Would You Rather” (because it’s the best conversation game ever, buttt thinking of them on the spot can be exhausting!!) And then, the one I’m most excited about — “Plot Twist!” because I believe collaborative storytelling is one of the most powerful things families can do together... But I also know that sometimes you need a spark when you’re zapped mentally. So I built prompts for story titles, surprise silly twists to keep the momentum going — and even figured out a way to let you record your story right from your phone and save it to your voice memos so you can relive the laughter for years to come. (My stepdaughter and son tested it out and played “Plot Twist” the whole way home on a car ride the other day and my heart was SO full!!) These apps are now available for YOU!! Check it: (when you grab all four you’ll also get “Are We There Yet: Car Games for Connection” for free!) The best part is, you don’t have to download anything. You just save them to your home screen and tap to play. I’m already adding new prompts to each app, and you’ll have lifetime access with your purchase now. 2. Also! I had the honor of being a guest on my friend Elena’s podcast, The Kind Organizing Podcast and it’s out today! Listening back yesterday, I realized it’s a great overview of my whole philosophy (and includes many ideas and concepts from Activate Play Mode). If you’re curious to go deeper into all of this, this conversation is a great place to start. You can listen here: My invitation for you this week: Check out my apps or listen to that podcast episode... 👉 AND ALSO, give yourself a lil shoulder massage right now (seriously, take 20 seconds) and remind yourself you’re doing a DANG GOOD JOB. Cheering you on always! MORE FROM PLAYFUL HEART PARENTING: LITTLE MOMENTS FOR BIG LAUGHS: Quick and easy, random, silly ideas for connection through laughter – just for the sake of fun! I’m a mom, stepmom, and theatre educator helping exhausted parents access their inner creative playfulness for more connection and joy. No messy crafts, complicated setups, or sensory bins here! Just simple, silly moments that bring your family back together through laughter. My short weekly emails share reflections from real life and a simple invitation you can try for yourself or with your kids.
There’s this trend on social media, maybe you’ve seen it - short videos saying… “I’m bored. Tell me your wildest hack for ___. I don’t mean basic, I mean unhinged.” Honestly though some of those comment sections have some really interesting tips! But what I get hung up on is like… You’re “BORED??” Adults get bored? I don’t! I don’t have the time or space to be bored. I wish I could be bored! I don’t think parents even remember what it feels like to be bored. Right? Maybe… and I’m literally...
“I know the truth.” That’s the mantra I’ve developed over the last few years. When I started Playful Heart Parenting I thought I’d have to grow “thicker skin” to deal with criticism on the internet. It felt like part of the deal. No way around it. What I didn’t know yet is that the criticism would sometimes bleed into my real, non-internet life too, from people who know me personally. But guess what? Two and a half years later, I have not grown thicker skin. Criticism still stings. It still...
“This room is driving me CRAZY!” I huffed as I pushed a couch to the other side of the room while holding a clingy baby on my hip The living room was crammed with stuff, the furniture so oddly arranged that walking wasn’t even possible. “Why is it driving you crazy? It’s just a room!” My 3yo… The voice of innocence… and wisdom!! All I could do was laugh. Because he was RIGHT! It reminded me of a song that Leah S., one of the parents in the first round of Activate Play Mode, made up. The...
